Leave your firm or delete your account
Leaving your firm deletes your account: what goes with you and what stays with the firm.
An account belongs to one firm, so leaving your firm deletes your account. Your firm keeps its projects.
Steps
-
Open the menu with your name in the top bar and choose Settings, then Account and security.
-
At the bottom, under Leave firm, choose Leave firm.
Leave firm at the bottom of Account and security. -
Read the confirmation: "This deletes your account and signs you out everywhere. If you come back, you start again as a new user."
-
Choose Delete my account. You're signed out and see "Your account was deleted".
The Leave firm confirmation, with Delete my account and Cancel.
If you signed up but haven't created or joined a firm yet, choose Delete my account at the bottom of any setup screen. On Delete your account, choose Delete my account again.
Good to know
- What goes with you: your login, your sign-in methods, your authenticators and your sessions on every device. You can't sign in again with that account.
- What stays with the firm: the projects and returns you worked on, and their financials. Records of the Terms you accepted and of actions such as uploads stay too, linked to an internal ID rather than your name or email. The Privacy Policy says how long each is kept.
- This can't be undone. To come back, another admin can invite you back as a new user.
- If you're the firm's only admin, make someone else an admin first. See Admins and members.
- If you're the only person in your firm, Leave firm doesn't show. The Privacy Policy says to write to privacy@sidesheet.co to delete your account information.
- An admin removing you has the same effect as leaving. See Change a role, remove someone or reset their authenticator.
If something goes wrong
- "You're the only admin. Make someone else an admin first." Your firm needs an admin after you leave. Change someone's role to Admin, then leave.
- "Could not delete your account. Try again." Nothing was deleted. Try again.
