How Sidesheet works
Add a company's tax return PDFs to a project and get multi-year financials, checked and ready to export.
Sidesheet turns a company's business tax returns into clean, multi-year financials, every number checked and ready to export. You add the return PDFs, check what was read, and download one Excel workbook.
Want to see it first? Take the tour of a sample project: an invented company's returns, already extracted, in seven short steps. Signed in, you can take it again any time from Product tour in your account menu.
Each company you're valuing gets its own project. The work follows the same stages every time:
- Create a project. One project per company you're valuing. Name it after the company.
- Add its tax returns. Drop the PDFs on the project's page. We work out each return's form and tax year. Add as many years as you have. You can add more later.
- Extract the returns. The button says how many returns it will read, such as Extract 3 returns. Each return's card shows its progress.
- Review each return. Every number links back to its page in the return, so you can see where it came from. When a return looks right, choose Mark as reviewed.
- Check the financials. The Financials card puts the years side by side. Preview workbook opens every tab, where any number shows the page it came from.
- Export. Export to Excel on the same card downloads the financials as an Excel workbook, with the form's line numbers, ready for your adjustments.
Good to know
- Sidesheet works in a browser on a computer or tablet.
- Sidesheet reads Forms 1120, 1120-S and 1065, tax years 2015 and later, scanned or e-filed.
- A project is for one company's returns. If the returns you add name more than one company, you'll see a warning. You can still extract.
- Everything for a project is on its one page: the returns, what to check across them, the financials and export, so you can leave and pick up where you stopped.
- New to reading returns for a valuation? The guide Using business tax returns in business valuation walks through it.
