Create your account and firm

Create your account with email, Google or a Microsoft work account, confirm the emailed code, agree to the Terms and name your firm.

Sidesheet is in private beta, so you set up your account from the email that lets you in. You'll create your account, confirm your email with a code, then name your firm.

Steps

  1. Open the email "You're in: Sidesheet private beta" and choose Set up your account. The page shows the invited address, which you can't change. Already have a Sidesheet account? The page asks you to sign in instead, then you name your firm.

  2. Choose a password of at least 12 characters, or use Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft. With Google or Microsoft, use the account for the invited address. Another address can't use the invitation.

  3. Tick the box to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Both links open the documents. Then choose Create account.

  4. If you chose a password, we email you a 6-digit code. Enter it and choose Continue. "The code expires in 10 minutes." Continue keeps working until the next step opens.

  5. If you chose a password, or we can't use the name from Google or Microsoft, on What should your firm call you?, enter Your name and choose Continue.

  6. On Create your firm, enter your Firm name.

The Create your firm form, with a firm name entered.

  7. Under Authenticator app, choose whether everyone at your firm uses one. "Everyone uses an authenticator app" is recommended.

  8. Read Authority to bind, then tick the box to confirm you have authority to bind your firm to the Terms of Service.

  9. Read the client-consent notice from its link, then tick the box to confirm you've read it.

  10. Choose Create firm.

After the authenticator, a last page says "No subscription needed" and shows when your firm's beta access ends. Continue goes to your projects.

Good to know

  • You become your firm's admin. You can invite people once it's set up.
  • With Google or Microsoft, the name from that account is used when we can. You can change it under Settings › Account and security › Name.
  • An account with no name is asked for one once, at the next sign-in.
  • No invitation yet? You can still create an account at sign-up. You'll see "You’re on the waitlist", and we'll email you when a spot opens. You can also choose Request beta access.
  • Invited to someone's firm? Follow their invitation email instead, to join their firm rather than create one.
  • If the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy change, at your next sign-in you'll see what changed and accept the new version before you continue.

If something goes wrong

  • "That code is invalid or has expired. Request a new one." Choose Send a new code, choose Create account again, then enter the newest code.
  • "Too many emails were requested. Wait a few minutes and try again." Wait, then ask for a code again.
  • "This link has already been used" The link was used or has expired. If you've already set up your firm, sign in.
  • "Someone else is signed in on this browser" Choose Sign out and continue, then set up your account.
  • "Agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to continue." Tick the box before you create your account or choose Google or Microsoft.
  • "Enter your name." Type the name your firm should see.
  • "Remove control, formatting or line-break characters from your name." Pasting can bring hidden characters. Type the name instead.
  • "Use at most 100 characters." Shorten your name.

Next, set up your authenticator.
