Returns we read
Federal Forms 1120, 1120-S and 1065 for tax year 2015 on, as PDFs; no state returns or 1040s.
Sidesheet reads federal business income tax returns: Forms 1120, 1120-S and 1065, for tax years 2015 and later. Each one goes in as its own PDF.
| You can add | We can't read |
|---|---|
| Form 1120 | State returns |
| Form 1120-S | Form 1040 |
| Form 1065 | Tax years before 2015 |
| Scanned or e-filed PDFs | Files that aren't PDFs |
Good to know
- Use the PDF from the tax software or a clear scan, not a photo. Pages should be upright and readable.
- Put one return in each file. A file that holds two returns, such as two years in one PDF, can't be used.
- Upload the whole return, including the first page: the form number and tax year are printed there.
- Each file can be up to 10 MB and 300 pages.
- A project holds up to 10 returns, all for one company.
- Password-protected PDFs can't be read, even ones that open without a password. Print the return to a new PDF (or save a copy without the password) and upload that.
If something goes wrong
- "We couldn't find a federal 1120, 1120-S or 1065 in this file." A state return or any other document shows this. Check the file and upload the federal return.
- "We support tax years 2015 and later." The year we read is before 2015 or later than this year. Check the year printed on the first page.
- Not supported. The file is a Form 1040. Sidesheet reads business returns only, so remove the file.
- "This file isn't a PDF." Save or print the return as a PDF and upload that.
